Message from Adeline Chan, 2011-2012 Chairman, Kiwanis Asia-Pacific

Greetings and welcome to our 37th ASPAC Convention in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

This is again the time of the year where we catch up with old friends , make new friends, share our Kiwanis success stories and experiences and YES, we are also looking forward to electing our new leaders. This is really exciting!

Our sincere appreciation to all kiwanians and friends who have travelled from all over the world to support this convention. Big hugs to our Organising Chairman
Trevor Rajaratnam, his committee and all Kiwanians in Sri Lanka for making this convention a memorable one for all of us.

Though we are only into the first half of the term, ASPAC has something to cheer for. In New Club Building, ASPAC leads the Kiwanis family with the most number of clubs formed with Philippine Luzon and Malaysia in the lead. In Eliminate Maternal Neonatal Tetanus (MNT), Australia tops the world with 13 Model Clubs ie. clubs with an average of USD750 contribution per member . In the Zellar category, Taiwan District’s contribution is double of any of the Districts in the world.

ASPAC’s goal is saving 100,000 lives from Maternal Neonatal Tetanus by September 2012. May I share this great news with all my fellow Kiwanians that within the first three months of the term, WE HAVE ALREADY ACHIEVED OUR TARGET and HAVE IMMUNINIZED OVER 300,000 child bearing age women in the designated areas. GREAT JOB !!!

For the first time, Kiwanis International will be bringing in their team to conduct the ASPAC Nations’ Growth Summit in Sri Lanka, isn’t this wonderful?

All these will not be possible if not for the hard work and commitment from all our members and leaders. For this, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I am so excited as your Chair Person this year, you have made me proud and you have given all of us a reason to celebrate.

May I appeal to all fellow Kiwanians to continue with your good work.

On behalf of the Aspac board, I hope you will have a memorable and enjoyable convention. We also wish to welcome the new Aspac board and committee. Working hand in hand, together we shall help Aspac to greater heights.

Enjoy and have a safe journey home
